I have recently accepted the volunteer position of Executive Director of the Missouri Fair Tax organization. This visionary group has been organizing and working for years to eliminate the federal income tax and replace it with a national consumption tax (tax what I spend-not what I earn).

More recently many of their number have aided our efforts for similar reforms at the state level. I have been a supporter of the Fair Tax since I first understood the principles behind it. Its most appealing features include that it is constitutional and that it supports personal liberty rather than opposing it like the income tax does. The Fair Tax also encourages success and general prosperity rather than penalizing them.

During my years in the Missouri House, I sponsored legislation to replace the state income tax with a consumption tax for each of my last four years and was able to guide one resolution to send that choice to voters through House approval with a vote of 90 ayes and 65 nays. I was privileged to work with countless faithful tax reformers across Missouri and other states and am convinced that with proper organization and strategy it is possible to eliminate Missouri’s state income tax and replace it with a consumption tax.

The ultimate success is to pass The Fair Tax at the national level, but it is hard to see how we can break the special interest strangle hold on Washington DC and implement a national Fair Tax until we first demonstrate its success in one or more states. That makes the success of Missouri critical to national success.

If you can help us succeed, go to http://missourifairtax.com/ and sign on. If you can help financially either donate online or make your check out to AFFT (Americans For Fair Taxation), and mail your contribution to Ed Emery at P.O. Box 123, Lamar, MO 64759. Please indicate what portion of your donation (up to 100%) you wish to go to our Missouri organization. The balance will be assigned to the national account. We need new members and promotional funds and welcome you to the fight for economic and political freedom. God Bless America.

The Missouri Jobs Act petition is in support of tax reform measure that will create jobs in Missouri and that incorporates the following features:
1. Eliminates the state income tax
2. Replaces the state income tax with a consumer driven sales tax not to exceed 7%
3. Maintains revenue neutrality to the greatest extent possible
4. Either requires or provides the option to other political subdivisions to lower their sales tax rate by adopting a broader sales tax base
5. Requires the legislature to provide for a rebate to be determined by the legislature
6. Eliminates hidden taxes
7. Only contains exemptions that are absolutely necessary and makes it difficult for new exemptions to be added later

It is believed that passage of a tax reform measure that meets or exceed these requirements will make Missouri the economic engine of the Midwest.

Please go to the link below to sign the petition for the Missouri Jobs Act. Please click on the link below for more information and to sign the petition.

Mo FairTax, Inc. is very excited to host a pre-release viewing of:

I WANT YOUR MONEY

at

Stoney Creek Inn
2601 S. Providence Road,
Columbia, MO 65203, (573) 442-6400

A documentary film, contrasting two versions of the American dream – one which champions American opportunity, a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. The other version believes that the federal government, using taxpayers’ money, should play a major role in leveling out the nation’s wealth to guarantee outcomes to all, regardless of effort.

You will see interviews with well-known public figures including Missouri’s own Representative Allen Icet, movie clips, dramatic portrayals, music, graphics and even comedic animation to demonstrate the implications of these very different perspectives.

Please come – we will start the night with a meet and greet of FairTax supporters, and then you will get a “short course” on the hottest issue in the news today – our nation’s economic future. Go home informed and ready to educate your friends, neighbors and families on two very different views of our role in government at this critical juncture of our nation’s history.

This screening is funded on a very limited budget and to recoup our expenses, we are asking for a $10.00 donation at the door. This event is hosted in full by Mo FairTax, Inc. and in part by Zimmer Radio Group. Mo FairTax, Inc. wishes to give a big round of thanks to the Zimmer group for the radio advertising and promotion of this event and to Stoney Creek Inn for their assistance. Details are as follows:

Friday, October 8th, 2010
6 pm Meet & Greet Mo FairTax & Information Fair
7 pm Film Presentation

Stoney Creek Inn
2601 S. Providence Road,
